Lean Manufacturing

Mr. Michael DaPrile is the vice president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America (TMMNA). As part of Toyota’s supplier executive exchange program, he has been dispatched as the executive vice president to S.W. Manufacturing, a company that supplies seat adjusters, door frames, and window regulators. Before joining Toyota in April 1987, Mike was with General Motors (GM) for 25 years. He held the positions of manager of final assembly, senior administrator of quality systems, and department manager at various GM assembly divisions.

He received a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from Texas Wesleyan College where he graduated with honors. Mike also completed a one year graduate fellowship from North Texas State University. Additionally, he serves as an advisory board member for Lexington Community College, and he is a member of the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass.

Mike will discuss how to build an environment that promotes Lean. You will learn why team members must not believe they work for the company, but that they are the company.
