R. Troy Oldham
Lecturer, Utah State University

Troy Oldham has held executive level positions in sales, marketing, public relations, online media and analyst relations.  He also has international experience, speaks Mandarin Chinese, and is currently a lecturer at Utah State University (USU) and a PhD candidate in the field of professional communications.  

For the past three years Troy has served as a lecturer and faculty member of the Department of Communications at USU in Logan, Utah. Troy also owns and operates a consulting partnership called HeadSpin Partners which provides business, sales and marketing services to technology companies.  

While at USU, Oldham has been a driving force behind a reality-based capstone course that pairs actual business clients with student teams to develop a comprehensive PR and marketing strategy.  Clients for the course have come from a wide range of industries including software technology, botanical pharmaceutical, hearing technology, biotech, entertainment, craft, and online consumer service.

Prior to joining USU and creating Headspin, he spent nearly 11 years working for the Microsoft Corporation in sales, marketing, and management positions. The last three years with Microsoft, Troy worked for Microsoft in Australia as the General Manager for Carpoint.com, an executive staff member of the ninemsn joint venture and the Enterprise Sales Manager for Microsoft Australia Pty Ltd.

During this time, he as accumulated extensive experience in marketing, sales, public relations in multiple segments in the technology industry including: consumer and business software, software licensing, contract negotiation, database and development tools, online media (MSN and ninemsn), and general business practices.  He also has international experience having implemented and supported marketing and sales campaigns with Microsoft subsidiaries in Australia/New Zealand, Western Europe, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Canada and Mexico.

He is an active participant in the community and currently serves as a board member and OEC Instructor with the National Ski Patrol and Beaver Mountain Ski Patrol, Boy Scouts of America and until recently the USU JCOM Advisory Council.
