Enhancement of Investment Value through Lean techniques

Cliff Ransom is the President of Ransom Research, Inc., an independent equity investment research firm that acts as an outsourced resource on a retained basis for a deliberately-constrained number of major institutional investment organizations.  Ransom Research, Inc., focuses principally on the industrial arena, including manufacturing, aerospace and defense, electrical equipment, hand and power tools, power generation and transmission, railroad equipment, electronic test devices, construction and agricultural equipment, and water and fluid handling end markets, with special interest in aftermarket operations, including service, spare parts, retrofits, and remanufacturing.   Cliff Ransom has over thirty years of experience on Wall Street, on both the Buy Side and the Sell Side.   He has served as Director of Research at several New York Stock Exchange Member Firms and as head of the Industrial Research Group at State Street Research and Management.  He was named to Institutional Investor Magazine’s “Best of the Buy Side” in 2001.  A principal discriminator of his work is a 15-year-long exploration of lean thinking, a journey that has culminated in his roles as Chairman of the Advisory Board of Lean Horizons Consulting LLC, a private consulting firm founded by Mark Deluzio, the original head of the Danaher Business System Office, as a Life Member of the Shingo Prize Academy, and as a "Champion" of the Association for Manufacturing Excellence.  In particular, he has spent considerable time in the past four years studying the application of traditional lean manufacturing techniques to what he calls, "the latest frontier," meaning transactional, back-office, service, financial, accounting, and new product development venues.  He addresses corporate management and industry groups regularly, including gatherings of the Lean Enterprise Institute, The Lean Accounting Summit, The Shingo Prize, the AME, Terex, Wabtec, Parker Hannifin, Regal-Beloit, and others.
