Craig Hudson
Western Regional Director, Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA)
Executive Director, California Independent Bankers

Panel Discussion: Commerce and Banking: All Eyes on Utah

Craig has been with ICBA for almost two decades. He established the organization’s western regional office in 1984 with fewer than 50 members. Currently, more than 500 banks belong to the western regional organization.

Craig is very active politically on behalf of ICBA in both the national and state arenas. In 2002, he spearheaded a major legislative effort that prevented mixing banking and commerce in California. His efforts evaded passage of a bill that would have allowed Wal-Mart to get into interstate banking.

He previously worked in the Ford White House, and traveled worldwide as an international negotiator in the multilateral trade talks known as the Kennedy Round. He also assisted the Ford Administration with their legislative agenda on Capitol Hill. Craig began his career as a special assistant on the United States Senate Finance Committee.

Craig earned an undergraduate degree at the University of Washington. He holds graduate degrees in both economics and history from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, D.C., and from Brown University.
