Alternative Medicine: Separating Helpful Remedies from Snake Oil

Douglas has worked in the human resource field for over two decades. He has given presentations on how to reduce medical plan expenses using alternative medicine in many major cities including Los Angles, Salt Lake City, Chicago, and Atlanta.

ICON Health & Fitness, Inc. is the world’s largest manufacturer of home exercise equipment. ICON brands include Healthrider, Nordic Track, Weider, Pro Form, Weslo, IMAGE, Jumpking, and Free Motion Fitness.

Doug earned a bachelor’s degree in human resources from Utah State University. He serves on the Utah SHRM Crossroads Conference Committee and the Utah Council for Worksite Health Promotion. He is also on three college steering committees. Doug is well known for his nutritious diet and exercise ethic.

He will introduce you to a variety of alternative medicine topics, and discuss ICON’s success using holistic medicine to lower medical plan costs, and increase attendance and productivity. Doug will discuss how you could incorporate these practices into your medical plans.

Karen will focus on the benefits of using mediation to resolve organizational conflicts such as grievances, discrimination complaints, and problems between co-workers and/or supervisors. She will discuss the EEOC Guidelines which empower employers to establish an in-house mediation program to attempt to resolve complaints before they end up in court.
