How to go from a "Sideline Achiever" to a "Stand Out Leader"

As one of Utah 's few female executives in the healthcare industry, Annette finds pleasure in surmounting seemingly impossible impasses through her trademark persistence, patience, and teamwork. Annette Annette has been in healthcare management for over 20 years. She currently serves as the vice president of Uniprise, a UnitedHealth Group company. In this capacity, Annette works with large national and multinational corporations on their employees' healthcare programs, most with over 50,000 employees. Annette has also served as the President and CEO of UnitedHealthcare in Utah . Annette will share practical tips and give examples from her career on how to be a recognized, successful business leader.

Some Lessons Learned: From Car Hop to CEO

In 1953, Jackie Trujillo began work as a car hop at the very first Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in the world. Shortly thereafter, Jackie's career was on the climb. In August 1995, Jackie became Chairman of the Board and CEO. Today Harman's has over 330 restaurants nation-wide. Over the years, Jackie has received numerous awards, including "Women of the Year" from the Roundtable for Women in Foodservice and the prestigious Silver Plate Award from the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association . Jackie will share some of the secrets of success that have enabled her to become a powerful woman in today's fast food industry.

Since 1985, Jill Lublin has been a nationally renowned public relations strategist and marketing expert. As the CEO of the public relations consulting firm Promising Promotion, Jill has created successful public relations strategies and techniques that implement bottom line results. Twenty years experience working with ABC, NBC, CBS, and other national media has given her great insight into what methods and strategies work for the media. Gladys González was born and raised in Bogotá , Colombia , where she started her marketing career with BASF in Quimica , Colombia -a billion-dollar multinational company. Gladys has abundant experience in the diplomatic and international business worlds. She has served as Columbian Consul in Quito , Ecuador ; Assistant Vice President for Hanover Trust (today know as Chase Manhattan Bank); and President of Hispanic Marketing and Consulting. In 1991, Gladys became the publisher of Mundo Hispano , Utah 's largest Hispano/Latino newspaper. Gladys will share her story of building a successful international career and will share her efforts to help American companies and organizations reach out to the Hispanic/Latino population.

Continuing Your Education Later in Life

As a non-traditional student with two children, Cindy began her education in her mid-thirties. She is now an Assistant Professor for the School of Accountancy at Utah State University . She has taught many graduate and undergraduate courses on subjects such as, Forensic & Managerial Accounting, Corporation Finance, and Investments. Cindy will tell of her experience going back to school while raising two children. She will give tips to those who are considering continuing their education and will talk about some of the challenges of working in a demanding industry such as accounting.

Dolores Gossner Wheeler
President, CEO, & Chair of the Board, Gossner Foods, Inc.

Go For it!

Dolores began working at Gossner Foods when it began operations in 1966. She worked in a number of different positions in the company and in October 1984 was appointed as President, CEO and Chairman of the Board. Dolores is supportive of many of the small farming communities in Northern Utah and Southern Idaho including 4-H programs, the National FFA Association, and the Boy Scouts of America. Dolores will share the history of Gossner Foods and how her philosophy of "Go For It" helped to develop her career.
