Now president of Mountain Valley Seed, Inc., he was formerly employed by Utah State Universityís Plant Science Department in the cereal breeding program for 8 years. He opened a garden center in Logan that was sold after 12 years. He then moved to Salt Lake City and opened a wholesale seed distributions company selling bulk & pre-packaged vegetable & flower seeds. He opened a second division of the company to handle commercial landscaping which doubled the company's gross income in two years.
While attending Utah State University as a research associate he served as the representative for the College of Agriculture. At the same time he was Vice President of classified employees and director of International Affairs for the Logan JC's (where they won the state competition). He was also the director of the Utah Nursery for 3 terms, president of the Utah Seed Council in 1996, and Nurseryman of the Year in 1997.
