Along with his duties at Overstock, Dr. Byrne serves as the general partner of High Plains Investments LLC, a company that holds assets in excess of $100 million. He is also on the boards of White Mountains Insurance Group and Atlantic Aviation. Previously, Dr. Byrne was chairman, president and CEO of Centricut, LLC and held the same positions at Fechheimer Brothers, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway operating company.

Dr. Byrne received a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, a master’s degree from Cambridge University as a Marshall Scholar, and a doctorate in philosophy from Stanford University.
